There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. In great measure, the 1962 war [between China and India] was a consequence of Mao's need to reassert his control over the party after the disaster of the Great Leap Forward and to score off the Soviet Union. In some measure it was also, according to John Garver, a China expert in The Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, a misreading of India's intentions on Tibet and New Delhi's confrontational "forward policy."
