The School of Building Construction at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for a faculty position in the area of facility and/or property management with a strong technical component. The position is anticipated to be filled at the Assistant Professor level; however, appointments at the Associate Professor level may be considered for outstanding candidates. A doctoral degree in facility management, building construction, real estate, management or a related field of study is desired. The target start date for the position is August 19, 2013, and the search will remain open until the position is filled.
The School of Building Construction seeks to become the leading force of innovation in integrated facility management, construction management, and program management. Its graduate degree is accredited by the International Facility Management Association Foundation and recognized by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. Its undergraduate degree is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education. A Ph.D. degree with a major in Building Construction and Integrated Facility Management was approved by the Board of Regents in Fall 2011.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate courses; develop a sponsored research program; advise and mentor students; collaborate with other faculty in multidisciplinary research; interact and participate in outreach activities; and be involved in service to the Institute and the profession. Scholarly collaborations with other units in the College of Architecture and across campus with the College of Engineering, the College of Management, and the College of Computing, are expected. The School seeks candidates with expertise in facility management/property management, operations, sustainability, FM technologies/BIM applications, corporate real estate, and possibly program management, integrated project delivery or construction management.
