Wholecell patchclamp electrophysiology of neurons is a gold-standard technique for high-fidelity analysis of the biophysical mechanisms of neural computation and pathology, but requires great skill to perform. We have developed a robot systems that automatically performs patch clamping in vivo demonstrating good yield, throughput and quality of automated recordings in mouse cortex and hippocampus.

"Reengineering a Human-like Uricase for the Treatment of Gout"
We are reengineering a “human-like” uricase to safely and efficiently alleviate gouty arthritis. This research addresses the unmet medical need in the enzymatic management of gout by developing a uricase better tolerated by patients. We have developed a lead that has comparable in vitro activity and enhanced in vivo stability compared to the Krystexxa, the only approved uricase gout treatment.
