Summary Sentence: The 5 finalists will present their innovative ideas for addressing social and environmental problems.

Full Summary: The Ideas to Serve Competition is for students and recent graduates who have innovative ideas for solving social and environmental problems. In the final round of the competition, five selected teams will present their ideas to a packed auditorium full of students, faculty and judges.

Come support Georgia Tech students who are trying to make a positive difference in their communities and the world!

Join us at the final round of the Ideas to Serve Competition to hear Georgia Tech students' innovative ideas for solving social and environmental problems. The five finalist teams will present their ideas to judges and an auditorium full of students, faculty and interested community members. At the end of the evening, prizes totalling $20,000, will be awarded. Come be inspired, get free raffle prizes, and vote for your favorite project!

The finalists are:

Anemo Check - Simple and inexpensive disposable anemia test with applications for resource-poor settings around the world

Blue Sky - Affordable, effective, and “green” air filtration mask combined with a business model that reduces income inequality and funds pollution control measures

FloMera - A way to detect breast cancer using a single drop of blood, providing earlier detection, lower cost, easier use, and better results than the existing mammogram

The Pentorship Program - Aims to reduce the rate of recidivism by providing business planning assistance, entrepreneurship courses, digital literacy and technology education to prison inmates

Vein-to-Vein - A free and open source blood inventory management system designed to replace manual records used in many African countries and ensure the safety of blood used in transfusions.


More About the Ideas to Serve (I2S) Competition
I2S is a competition for current Georgia Tech students and recent alumni who have an early stage product or service idea aimed at creating a better world.  I2S is primarily a competition of ideas, where creativity, imagination, and technology are applied to the solving some of today’s most challenging social and environmental problems.

Ideas for the competition might focus on reducing the effects of poverty, alleviating hunger, promoting health and wellness, improving air and water quality, or developing alternate sources of energy, to name a few. Learn more about the competition here.
