MSHCI Gives Back: CogTool: Rapid Prototyping and Predictive User Modeling

*********************************
There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Summaries

Summary Sentence: This workshop will provide a practical guide for how to prototype with CogTool, how to interpret its output, and where it might fit into the design process.

Full Summary: CogTool is a prototyping software package similar to Axure and Balsamiq, but with one notable distinction: it allows designers to run simulated users through their prototype.  By automatically employing  a built-in model of user perception, action, and cognition, CogTool can produce detailed time estimates and task decomposition for expert user performance in a given system, allowing the designer to predict the efficiency of designs and flows without having performed user testing.  This workshop will provide a practical guide for how to prototype with CogTool, how to interpret its output, and where it might fit into the design process.
Level: No prior experience or related background is necessary.
Software: Install CogTool in advance from:
