There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. In December 2011, the Executive Board of the Faculty Senate approved the creation of a chartered ad-hoc subcommittee of the Academic Services Committee focused on an Open Access Policy for scholarly publications.
The subcommittee's charter reads:
"The Subcommittee on Open Access will study the question of open access to faculty publications and, as appropriate, draft a Georgia Tech policy on open access publishing, taking into account the diversity of interests and concerns on the part of Georgia Tech faculty. The subcommittee will take as input the preliminary work of the Library Faculty Advisory Board, which has developed subject matter familiarity and has visited a majority of Georgia Tech faculty meetings to discuss the subject of open access."
The subcommittee has put together a draft Open Access Policy and seeks input and feedback from faculty at this town hall. Additional town halls will be held on the following dates:
