Private Presidential Pathways: The Photography of George Tames
Acclaimed New York Times photographer George Tames changed the way that America looked at presidents and other political figures in Washington, D.C. Curated by his daughter, Georgia artist Stephanie Tames, this exhibition features 28 candid and revealing images of former presidents that give a private glimpse into the lives of some of our nation's most prestigious leaders. The 28 black and white photographs span 40 years from the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt to George H.W. Bush and feature several iconic images, including John Kennedy leaning on the windowsill of the Oval Office and Richard Nixon waving goodbye after his impeachment.
Presented by the Georgia Tech Office of the Arts as a complement to the political season, the exhibit runs September to October 2012 and is on view at the September 6 Open House, during public performances and by scheduling an appointment at 404-894-2787 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. For a schedule of public events see www.ferstcenter.gatech.edu.
