Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering (WECE) has been named the recipient of the 2011 IEEE Women in Engineering Student Branch Affinity Group of the Year Award.
WECE won this award for its efforts in creating a community within ECE where women can seek academic support, participate in professional development activities, enjoy social events, and take part in community outreach activities with other organizations in ECE and throughout Georgia Tech. The group is also very active in outreach activities to female middle school and high school students through its work with FIRST LEGO League, the HOT Days @ Georgia Tech summer camp, and conducting school and campus tours.
Established by a group of five women in 2004, WECE has grown to a membership of 316 women this past year.
