Thomas K. Gaylord has been named as one of the 50 most published authors of Applied Optics, a publication of the Optical Society of America. A member of the Georgia Tech faculty since 1972, Dr. Gaylord is a Regents' Professor and the Julius Brown Chair Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

In 2012, Applied Optics is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and as part of that celebration, the OSA is recognizing their 50 most prolific authors in the history of that journal.  Dr. Gaylord is the journal's 11th most prolific author, with 67 papers that have been cited 1,128 times.
