Summaries

Summary Sentence: Strategic Planning of SC Facilities

Full Summary: No summary paragraph submitted.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This hands-on Working Conference will show you step-by-step how to successfully plan major investments in capacity and facilities. You will learn proven methods that integrate the five components of every supply chain facility -- layout, handling, communications, utilities, and building design.

Working "top-down" and "outside-in" you will learn and experience the practice of systematic planning. Case exercises and teamwork assure your mastery of the material. Specific techniques are presented for estimating space and capacity required, evaluating automation, and for linking your facilities plans to those of your business and supply chain. The methods presented can be put to immediate use on your current or next planning project. They are equally useful for inbound logistics, finished goods distribution, transportation, assembly & configuration, service centers; captive, or contract and third-party, and for consolidation and re-purposing in addition to expansion or new construction.

HOW YOU WILL BENEFIT

Participants will learn:

  • To maximize the strategic value and flexibility of your supply chain facilities — land and buildings, machinery and equipment.
