Each semester, the G.I.T. FIT program at the Campus Recreation Center (CRC) hosts Georgia Tech’s Biggest Loser Program. With 14 participants in the program, this semester’s challenge was a huge success. All of the contestants have the same goal of losing weight while getting and staying healthy. To meet these goals, they kept a detailed food log and engaged in challenging, yet fun workouts. After a long journey, the Georgia Tech Biggest Loser contestants have finally completed their competition.

During the challenging program, a total of 189 pounds were lost among the participants! The highest percent of weight loss went to the Green Team with an average of 10.99 percent weight lost per person. The final competition was quite challenging as participants had to complete the Pi Mile, climb 39 feet, swim a quarter mile, and then bike six miles. Zach Laguna won the climbing challenge in 1:25 minutes and did extremely well in the Pi mile run, finishing in 25:40. James Paine won the swimming component with a time of 5:47. John Beach won the cycling challenge completing 6 miles in 17:47 minutes. Congratulations everyone!

Nicole Caruso of the Blue Team was the point total winner with a score of 166. Following close behind her was another fellow Blue Team member, James Paine with 152 total points and John Beach of the Green Team with 136 points.

Finally, with a total weight loss of 44 pounds and weight loss percentage of 16.54 percent, the winner of Georgia Tech’s Biggest Loser Challenge was James Paine! Congratulations on your success!
