Two Petit Undergraduate Research Scholars were honored at Georgia Tech's annual awards ceremony to recognize top engineering students.
Katy Hammersmith, a third year biomedical engineering major, received the Helen E. Grenga Outstanding Woman Engineer Award from the Women in Engineering (WIE) society, which recognizes the top female engineering student in the university.
Chun Yong, a fourth year biomedical engineering major, received the Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Award from the College of Engineering.
Hammersmith and Yong, both members of the 2010 Class of Petit Scholars, each began their undergraduate research at the Parker H. Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience.
