Synpopsis:  Alzheimer's disease is a looming epidemic. Advances in
research will be discussed that have begun to shed light on the
pathogenesis of the disease, as well as the major challenges, and
opportunities for research, that exist to enable early detection of
individuals at high risk for the disease and initiation of
disease-modifying therapies before the onset of irreversible
neurodegeneration.
