Summary Sentence: Honoring young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests.

Full Summary: As part of an effort to encourage more young women to choose careers in technology, the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) seeks to recognize high school women with outstanding achievements and aspirations in computing and technology through the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing.

The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing honors young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. The Award offers both national and local "affiliate" competitions to generate support and visibility for women's participation in communities nationwide.

The College of Computing is the Affiliate Host for the reception and ceremony honooring both the winners and runners-up.  Each winner will receive an engraved award for herself and her school, along with many other prizes!  Each runner-up will receive a framed certificate, as well as many other prizes.

This year's award event and reception will take place on Wednesday, March 21st at El Parque de las Ciencias Luís A. Ferré in Bayamón. The award event will begin at 5:00pm followed by a reception from 6:00pm-7:00pm.

Jennifer Whitlow - Program Coordinator for Enrollment at the College of Computing, Georgia Institute of Technology.

Valentina De La Fe - Assistant Director, Hispanic/Latino Recruitment at the Office of Undergraduate Admission, Georgia Institute of Technology.

Nayda Santiago - Associate Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineerig Department, University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez.
