Georgia Tech's Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE), in partnership with UPS and the Public Speaking Club at Georgia Tech, is hosting an Elevator Pitch Speaking Competition. The competition will present a platform to student leaders and creative minds to explore and unleash their public speaking potential to an audience of eminent judges, including the vice president of Customer Solutions at UPS and the Jane Ammons, chair of the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.
This is an opportunity for students to mesh academic real time knowledge with leadership and public speaking skills to help prepare themselves for future job interviews or an upcoming senior design competition.
Having an "elevator speech" handy in impromptu situations can be a powerful tool when networking opportunities arise. The idea of an “elevator speech” is to have a prepared presentation that grabs attention and says a lot in a few words. Being able to introduce yourself and highlight your professional background with a clear, concise and engaging delivery is just as crucial to your career development as your resume or a job interview. By adding enthusiasm and energy to your "elevator speech," you will be marketing yourself in a way that will make listeners want to know more about your talents, skills and experience.
Learn more about the competition and register through the GT IIE website. Application deadline is Tuesday, March 6.
