There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. 2011 brought two of the deadliest bacterial outbreaks the world has seen during the last 25 years. The two epidemics accounted for more than 4,200 cases of infectious disease and 80 deaths. The bacteria that caused each outbreak was characterized using software developed at Georgia Tech, helping scientists to better understand the underlying microbiologic features of the disease-causing organisms and showing promise for supporting faster and more efficient outbreak investigations in the future.
