Sophomore Programs, part of the Office of Success Programs, is one of the newest initiatives at Georgia Tech. Building on the success of freshman support services, Sophomore Programs is a collaborative effort across Georgia Tech’s campus designed to address sophomores’ unique needs and order to help them succeed in their second-year and flourish throughout their educational career at Tech.

The sophomore year can be a fun but challenging time for students. This is when students often start to explore how their degree relates to life after college. Students begin to integrate their course work with co-operative positions, internships, study aboard opportunities, undergraduate research, and the many other academic enrichment experiences offered at Georgia Tech. For some students this can reaffirm their direction, but for others, this can lead to big-picture questions about their major, future career, and life plans.

With this in mind, Sophomore Programs can aid second-year students in:
* Managing and succeeding with second-year courses;
* Moving from exploration to decision-making regarding majors and careers;
* Developing meaningful relationships on-campus and beyond; and
* Pursuing involvement and leadership opportunities.

This spring, sophomores will get the chance to participate in the 2010 Sophomore Summit, a 2-day retreat designed to provide students opportunities for peer-to-peer networking, assist them in creating a sense of purpose in college and life, develop goals for the duration of their time at Tech, and provide an opportunity for student and faculty/staff interaction. For more information on the 2010 Sophomore Summit, click here.

As part of the Office of Success Programs, Sophomore Programs works closely with a variety of departments across campus and is positioned to connect students to Academic Support services. From 1-to-1 Tutoring to Academic Coaching, the Success Programs staff is here to support students’ academic and personal success in their sophomore year.
