The Pittsburgh Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Initiative is a multi-disciplinary and collaborative model of developing the health and safety of a community based upon the 5 E's (Education, Encouragement, Enforcement, Engineering and Evaluation) of Safe Routes to School (SRTS). The Initiative involves community, local, state, and national partners in creating designated safe routes to and from schools and increasing youth and family physical activity. The Morehouse School of Medicine is providing oversight of the public health component of the Initiative.
