Assistant Professor Meghan Duffy has been awarded the 2010 Georgia Tech Faculty Award for Academic Outreach.

The award "rewards faculty members for productive academic outreach in which they go beyond their normal duties to enrich the larger educational community with their subject matter knowledge." Meghan has used Lake Clara Meer in Piedmont Park as the focus of her outreach activities; she has developed and led hands-on activities that teach campers at Piedmont Park about aquatic ecology and has hosted a teacher from nearby Grady High School in her lab, and is currently working with Mary Moerlins of the Piedmont Park Conservancy to develop new activities.
