Biology PhD student Yong-Hwee 'Eddie' Loh has been chosen to participate in a Summer (May 24 - June 4) Workshop in Quantitative Evolutionary and Comparative Genomics at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, Japan (http://www.irp.oist.jp/qecg2010/). Loh was chosen from among ~300 applicants for one of 20 places in the workshop; all expenses are paid for participants. Eddie has a Masters degree from the Bioinformatics Institute, National University of Singapore. He has used evolutionary genomics to study a number of vertebrate organisms including sharks, humans, pufferfishes and cichlid fishes, and has publications in top journals including Science, PLoS Biology, Genome Research, Genome Biology and Molecular Biology and Evolution.
