There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Georgia Tech's American Medical Student Association chapter (advised by Dr. Brockett from the School of Biology) recently won the Paul R. Wright Award. This award is presented by National AMSA to a chapter exemplifying excellence in local activities, events, and leadership. This award comes with a cash prize which will be used to fund an upcoming conference, a local AMSA scholarship (application to be released soon), and an end of the year banquet.
This award is well-deserved. Recently, the Georgia Tech AMSA chapter created a mentorship program for entering freshmen and organized a medical mission trip to Peru, slated for spring break. In addition, on February 26th, GT AMSA will host its 5th annual pre-health conference. Approximately 50 graduate schools will be present at the conference. The conference will also feature a keynote address by Congressman Phil Gingrey. This conference is open to the entire campus.
